Dr. Martin joined Scorpion Therapeutics in May 2020 and currently serves as Vice President, Head of Chemical Biology overseeing chemical biology approaches for early lead discovery. Prior to joining Scorpion Therapeutics, Dr. Martin was the Head of Chemical Biology at Janssen. From September 2011 to August 2019, Dr. Martin served as Assistant Professor of Chemistry at University of Michigan-Ann Arbor where his research focused on the development of bioanalytical and chemical methods to characterize protein modifications and drug interactions across biological systems. During this tenure, Dr. Martin received the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) Maximizing Investigators’ Research Award (MIRA) Established Investigator Award (2019) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Director’s New Innovator Award (2014).
Dr. Martin received his Ph.D. in Pharmacology at the University of California in San Diego working with Nobel Laureate Roger Tsien and was a postdoctoral fellow with Professor Benjamin Cravatt at the Scripps Research Institute.
