We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced medicinal chemist with a demonstrated track record of successes in drug discovery and synthetic organic chemistry.  This person will provide leadership in the discovery of drug candidates though advanced medicinal chemistry and help manage external resources in support of Scorpion’s projects from hit ID to development candidate identification. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a skilled group of scientists representing medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, biology, structural biology and other disciplines to advance programs to the clinic.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Closely collaborate with other medical chemists and computational chemists in the design of novel compounds that address the project candidate profile
  • Analyze emerging project data and leverage a deep understanding of synthetic and medicinal chemistry to devise and implement creative scientific strategies to solve project issues
  • Lead and manage a team of external synthetic chemists, applying the best available compound synthesis strategies, to prepare high value compound targets
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify discover quality development candidates in an efficient and rapid manner by helping define issues, screening strategies, experiments and influence team direction
  • Proactively monitor, propose and implement the best medicinal chemistry approaches for Scorpion programs by staying abreast of advances in the field

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, specializing in synthetic organic synthesis or relevant experience
  • 3+ (and preferably 5+) years of experience supporting the synthetic and medicinal chemistry of drug discovery project teams
  • Experience managing and interacting with synthetic chemistry CRO’s
  • A strong record of achievement with a broad understanding of synthetic and medicinal chemistry as evidenced by contributions to drug programs and publications in high-impact journals
  • Understanding of other drug discovery disciplines (e.g., biology, safety, PKDM, etc.)
  • Proficient skills in the use of structure-based or other computer-aided design tools

We are seeking a highly motivated, highly experienced medicinal chemist with a demonstrated track record of successes in drug discovery and medicinal chemistry.  This person will provide a leadership role from target selection through hit discovery and optimization of drug candidates by leveraging her/his advanced medicinal chemistry knowledge and managing external resources in support of Scorpion’s projects. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a skilled group of scientists representing medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, target and project biology, structural biology and other disciplines to identify new targets and hits and advance programs to the clinic.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Co-lead the new target hit identification team to advance new programs to hit-to-lead and beyond.
  • Closely collaborate with the target biology co-lead in the prioritization of new targets, the design and execution of appropriate screening strategies, the validation and triage of screening hits, and the initial SAR exploration around these hits.
  • Collaborate with a team of biologists, data scientists, chemical biologists, biochemists, biophysicists, structural biologists and chemists, both internally and externally to advance our early project portfolio.
  • Lead the covalent library design team aimed at expanding and improving our proprietary covalent compound library.
  • Collaborate with other medicinal chemists and chemistry data scientists in the design of novel compounds that address the project candidate profile
  • Analyze emerging project data and leverage a deep understanding of medicinal chemistry to devise and implement creative scientific strategies to solve project issues
  • Lead and manage a team of external synthetic chemists, applying the best available compound synthesis strategies, to prepare high value compounds

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or relevant experience
  • 8+ (and preferably 10+) years of experience contributing to drug discovery programs as a medicinal chemist
  • Experience leading medicinal chemistry teams/programs and delivering candidates for clinical development

We are looking for an energetic, collaborative team member to maximize efficiency and stakeholder satisfaction in procurement functions such as supplier negotiation and management, purchase order management, spend reporting, and travel and expense support. You will interact with team members from Finance, Legal, and Operations to ensure cost effective and timely delivery of essential goods and services. You will participate in daily business execution as well as aid higher-level strategic initiatives with information and reporting. In short, you’ll support the continued success of Intermedia by supplying first-class procurement services to its internal and external partners.

The successful candidate is a team player with a solid procurement foundation and strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. This person must be comfortable in a fast-paced organization, able to balance multiple priorities, and feel comfortable working independently to support the needs of the scientists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Negotiate supplier terms such as price, quality of goods, deadlines, expectations, etc.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to understand details of procurement requirements
  • Partner with Legal to ensure terms are consistent with contractual requirements
  • Identify suppliers of goods and services
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal business partners regarding updates of goods and services
  • Provide RFI and RFP support as requested
  • Create and populate dashboards of supplier metrics, spend, contracts, etc.
  • Produce reports and compile information to support organizational initiatives
  • Assist with vendor qualification and onboarding processes
  • Aid and document cost savings efforts

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of three years’ experience in purchasing, procurement, and/or supply chain management

We are seeking a highly motivated, scientific leader with a deep knowledge of cancer biology and a demonstrated track record of success in target validation and elucidation of the mechanistic basis of selective dependencies to join our team in South San Francisco. The successful candidate will lead a group of biologists developing and implementing cutting edge molecular/cell/biochemistry techniques to determine essential target functions by testing mechanistic disease hypotheses in disease-relevant model systems. The team will generate data packages enabling the triaging and prioritization of targets identified by our data sciences and chemical proteomics teams based on an understanding of genomic data, function, mechanistic relevance to disease biology, and therapeutic index.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a high functioning team of research biologists and supervise, mentor and develop junior PhDs and associates
  • Conceive, communicate and execute on multi-disciplinary research strategies for in depth target validation, elucidating mechanistic biology to inform targeting modality, and biomarker identification to generate hypotheses for early patient stratification

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. with a focus on cancer biology, cell or molecular biology, genetics or a closely related area of study
  • At least 10 years of post-graduate work in oncology research, with 5+ year of industry experience and a deep knowledge of cancer biology
  • A strong record of achievement, including advancing targets into the drug discovery portfolio and publications in high-impact journals
  • Leading and mentoring a group of Ph.D. and non-Ph.D. scientists and facilitating their contributions to project teams in an industry setting

We are seeking a highly motivated Computational Biologist to join our Data Science team. This role will provide exposure to multiple phases of drug discovery and development, with a mission to leverage information-rich datasets to validate targets, elucidate mechanism of action, and inform patient selection strategy. The successful candidate will interface closely with colleagues across the company, and be a key contributor on a diverse, multidisciplinary team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify and evaluate novel therapeutic targets through mining large -omics datasets
  • Analyze data from high-throughput molecular assays including RNAseq, scRNAseq and CRISPR screens
  • Work in close collaboration with scientists from target identification and validation group contributing to experimental design
  • Provide interpretation and analysis of results and present findings in cross-functional project team meetings.

We are looking for a creative, energetic person to join our team as a Site Operations and Lab Manager, supporting the set up and day-to-day operations of a research laboratory. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational skills, be able to balance multiple priorities, and feel comfortable working independently to support the needs of the scientists.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributing and collaborating with a team of scientists and managers by managing day-to-day operations of a first-class laboratory.
  • Helping to streamline processes and set-up systems that keep a fast-growing company operating efficiently.
  • Managing general and function specific consumables inventory; including ordering and restocking supplies and determining re-order thresholds
  • Managing lab equipment; including service contracts, preventative maintenance, calibration scheduling and regular cleaning of incubators, biosafety cabinets, water baths, and other equipment
  • Overseeing lab safety and regulatory compliance, including tracking of chemicals and hazardous materials and enforcing PPE policy and lab safety rules
  • Coordinating deliveries inside and out of labs; including liquid nitrogen, CO2 deliveries, and biohazard waste removal, sharps removal, satellite waste removal
  • Serving as the site and facilities point of contact
  • Coordinating shipping and receiving; including unpacking and storing received orders, logging packing slips into the system and resolving backordered/missing supplies
  • Ability to manage priorities and function independently in a multidisciplinary laboratory environment
  • Helping to build our laboratory efforts by maintaining and creating a productive, fun and exciting environment.
  • Becoming a valuable contributor to other initiatives as they arise in our fast paced, startup environment.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • S., M.S. Biology or Business Administration
  • Previous experience in operations and/or business management of a drug discovery company.
  • Previous laboratory experience preferred.
  • Good communications skills, both oral and written.
  • Experience working independently, but within a collaborative team-centric environment.
  • A highly engaged, self-starter who is creative, innovative, communicative and possesses both a collaborative and goal/results-orientated style
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment, while employing tact, patience, diplomacy and a collaborative spirit
  • Outstanding decision making, organizational and analytical skills
