We are seeking a highly motivated accomplished leader to join our company in our Boston, MA office. This candidate will serve a critical role, responsible for setting and leading the global regulatory strategy and designing and managing all GxP programs and staff to ensure compliance with global laws, regulations and applicable guidance. He/she will be responsible for supporting the Company growth and infrastructure as the portfolio expands.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee global regulatory strategy and global regulatory submissions (eg, INDs, CTAs, NDAs, MAAs, meeting requests, and briefing documents) in compliance with all applicable global regulatory requirements and alignment with corporate goals.
  • Collaborate with research, non-clinical development, CMC and clinical development to develop regulatory strategies which will maximize the value of our assets.
  • Serve as the primary company contact to the FDA and other competent authorities; Foster a strong relationship, partnership, and advocacy with global regulatory authorities.
  • Proactively identify regulatory risks to company’s programs and develop risk mitigation plans.
  • Serve as the company subject matter expert on regulatory trends and guidance’s and keeps company apprised of expected changes to the regulatory landscape affecting existing and future regulatory policies, regulations, and standards.
  • Provide training, and interpretation of regulatory guidelines or issues to personnel.
  • Develop and manage Global Regulatory Affairs and QA budgets.
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and communicate the Company’s quality strategy and programs.
  • Provide leadership and strategic guidance in ensuring continuous compliance with all applicable internal and external regulations, standards, policies, and procedures related to the quality, regulatory status, and performance of Company operations, processes, and products.
  • Design and maintain a fit-for-purpose quality management system (QMS) across the GxPs.
  • Ensure the qualification, selection and management of vendors and contractors through a defined qualified process.
  • Create and execute a plan for ensuring a state of inspection readiness and continuous improvement.
  • Create a process for identifying, adjudicating and remediating risks and/or compliance concerns/issues. Ensure rapid escalation of significant quality issues or concerns.
  • Develop fit-for-purpose company SOPs, work instructions, and other processes and ensure appropriate training and adherence.
  • Ensure that company and departmental SOPs, job descriptions, and training documentation are current, relevant, and appropriately maintained.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 15 years of biotech/biopharmaceutical leadership, with a demonstrated record of drug development within the life sciences industry.
  • M.S./PhD/PharmD preferred.
  • Demonstrated leadership to design and build a Regulatory and Quality organization needed to achieve company objectives.
  • Broad and deep regulatory agency knowledge and experience interpreting and guiding application of global regulatory requirements across multiple GxPs; Extensive exposure with multiple regulatory agencies.
  • Extensive experience leading, designing, writing and submission of regulatory filings and correspondence.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external relationships, including with cross-functional teams, individual contractors, contract research organizations, and other vendors to effectively manage all regulatory and quality related activities.
  • Proven ability to dissect complex issues to quickly distill key issues for discussion with regulatory authorities and guide teams (internally/externally) in the preparation of responses to regulatory questions.
  • Demonstrated and extensive hands-on experience in the preparation, review, and finalization of GxP policies, procedures, SOPs, trainings, and corrective actions for both early and late development programs.

We are seeking a highly motivated, scientific leader with a deep knowledge of cancer biology and lineage transcription factors, and a demonstrated track record of success in target validation and small molecule drug discovery to join our team in South San Franciso. The successful candidate will enact a leadership role on a multi-disciplinary project team to drive small molecule drug discovery from inception into the clinic. He/she will define the path to drug discovery from target validation through to candidate selection by leveraging internal and external resources. The candidate will be expected to develop strong, collaborative partnerships within the company, with external collaborators, and with CROs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conceive, communicate and execute on multi-disciplinary research strategies for elucidating the mechanistic basis of target dependency to inform targeting modality, and for identifying biomarkers for early patient stratification.
  • Co-lead the new target hit identification team to advance new programs to hit-to-lead stage and beyond.
  • Closely collaborate with the medicinal chemistry co-lead in the prioritization of new targets entering hit finding, the design and execution of appropriate screening strategies, the validation and triage of screening hits, and the initial SAR exploration around these hits.

The Associate Director, Research Project Management is a core member of Research Teams, partnering with team leaders to develop and execute strategies and operational plans to drive our Company’s drug discovery efforts. He/She identifies project risks, develops mitigation approaches, and manages variances in terms of time, budget and quality. Projects may be internal or part of alliance agreements with external research partners. The Associate Director is expected to provide project management leadership and to drive teams, with sufficient influence and project management mastery to take on challenging assignments with minimal guidance.

This position may be based in Boston, MA.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently managing multiple discovery and pre-clinical projects in any phase of discovery. Projects range in priority, pace, and complexity, and may include one or more alliance partners.
  • Guiding scientists/teams through creation, management approval, execution, and termination/closeout of project plans through discovery transition milestones. Harmonizing input from diverse disciplines (e.g., biology, chemistry, data sciences, pharmacology, etc) into a cohesive and cogent project plan.
  • Building the operational plan, coordinating and tracking all project-activities (vs. scientific excellence) in order to allow optimal progress and decision making (e.g. manage contracts, budgets, meetings, timelines, reports, legal questions etc.).
  • Identifying risks and issues, tracks relevant project KPIs and proactively identifies issues and proposes plans to solve.
  • Collaborating effectively with cross-functional areas, support functions, and alliance partner functions (if applicable) to drive project delivery.
  • With Core Teams, identifying and requesting resources required for the project and ensuring resources are assigned and aligned.
  • Ensuring communications within and from the team are clear and effective, meetings have clear purpose and objectives, and that conflict is surfaced and resolved.
  • Maintaining adherence to project management standards, enabling sound decision making.
  • Communicating project status/issues and documents/presentations for management review.
  • Actively participating and completing ongoing training and personal development activities to increase leadership competency and to gain knowledge and skill in the discipline of project management and the business and science of pharmaceutical product discovery and development.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • A minimum of seven (7) years in the (bio)pharmaceutical industry.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in project management or a related role.
  • Demonstrated leadership and ethics; demonstrated ability to hold others accountable for delivery.
  • Ability to manage complex projects and propose alternative scenarios.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team setting, including demonstrated ability in building, and managing teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with external subject matter expert consultants and contract research organizations.

  • Familiarity with project management tools (ie MS Project, etc.).

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Advanced degree (e.g., MS, MBA, PhD, PharmD).

The successful candidate, along with a chemistry colleague, will lead a multi-disciplinary project team to drive oncology small molecule drug discovery from inception into the clinic. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluate novel precision oncology targets through genetic and pharmacological approaches.
