We are seeking a highly motivated research associate with a demonstrated track record of successes to join our dynamic biology drug discovery team in Boston. This candidate will serve a critical role in developing and executing in vivo pharmacokinetic (PK)/pharmacodynamic (PD)/efficacy studies from early development to IND stage. This individual will also work seamlessly with various biology functions and DMPK to develop and run PD assays in the lab. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop methods for in vivo tumor models and execute PK/PD/efficacy studies

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S./M.S. in Biology or a related field
  • A minimum of five years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Skilled in animal handling, compound formulation, dosing (PO/IV/SC/IP), basic surgery and necropsy techniques
  • Experienced with cell culture and molecular biology techniques such as western blotting, qPCR and other plate-based assays and imaging techniques

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributing and collaborating with a team of scientists and managers by managing day-to-day operations of a first-class laboratory.
  • Overseeing the Boston On-site Operations Staff.
  • Helping to streamline processes and set-up systems that keep a fast-growing company operating efficiently.
  • Developing laboratory guidelines; maintaining procedures manuals; and/or evaluating new materials and equipment.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years of operations experience within a biological research facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze data from high-throughput chemical libraries/proteome interactions screens

The Head of Information Technology will be responsible for determining current and future Enterprise Information Technology vision, operations, and execution. This role will oversee the design and implementation as well as maintenance and support of information systems that support the enterprise infrastructure of the organization. This includes overseeing Scorpion’s nationwide network, communications, storage, data center, end-user computing and service desk operations; setting R&D and G&A architectural directions for the organization and aligning to meet regulatory-compliant global business needs, ensuring flexible, modern technologies to support various compliance, privacy and security policies and procedures. The role includes providing world-class IT Operations and Support Services to maximize data center (cloud), regional sites/offices, and global end users’ capabilities. The role encompasses a mix of hands-on implementation as well as managed services provider (MSP) oversight.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Set the mission of the information technology organization to foster a business-oriented mind-set, driven by continual service improvements
  • Manage the development of infrastructure sourcing strategy and provide executive oversight for strategic vendor, managed services provider (MSP), and partner relationship management

We are seeking a highly motivated non-PhD Scientist with a demonstrated track record of successes to join our dynamic target biology team in South San Francisco.  This candidate will serve a critical role in generating engineered cell lines and running cell-based experiments to support target validation and mechanistic biology.  This position is ideal for a talented, highly motivated and results driven individual who will thrive in a fast-paced, innovative, start-up environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Designing and executing experiments to inform cancer target biology using a variety of approaches, including CRISPR-mediated cell line engineering, analysis of signaling pathway, and characterization of cell death mechanism(s)
  • Utilizing knockdown, knockout and over-expression of proteins for target validation
  • Identifying and validating pharmacodynamic readouts for novel oncology targets
  • Using decision making, organizational and communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues in data science, chemo-proteomics, and medicinal chemistry
  • Presenting data and findings at various venues, including project team, department, and company meetings

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Local candidates only please (South San Francisco area)
  • B.S./M.S. in Biology or a related field (no PhD’s please)
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant laboratory experience
  • Proficient at lentiviral transduction, stable cell line development, and CRISPR-based gene editing
  • Proficient at nucleic acid extraction/purification, qPCR, western blotting, WES, ELISA and other cell and molecular biology techniques
  • Commitment to the highest-quality research with outstanding technical skills and scientific rigor
  • A highly engaged, self-starter who is creative, innovative, communicative and possesses both a collaborative and goal/results-orientated style

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced medicinal chemist with a demonstrated track record of successes in drug discovery and synthetic organic chemistry.  This person will provide leadership in the discovery of drug candidates though advanced medicinal chemistry and help manage external resources in support of Scorpion’s projects from hit ID to development candidate identification. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a skilled group of scientists representing medicinal chemistry, computational chemistry, biology, structural biology and other disciplines to advance programs to the clinic.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Closely collaborate with other medical chemists and computational chemists in the design of novel compounds that address the project candidate profile
  • Analyze emerging project data and leverage a deep understanding of synthetic and medicinal chemistry to devise and implement creative scientific strategies to solve project issues
  • Lead and manage a team of external synthetic chemists, applying the best available compound synthesis strategies, to prepare high value compound targets
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify discover quality development candidates in an efficient and rapid manner by helping define issues, screening strategies, experiments and influence team direction
  • Proactively monitor, propose and implement the best medicinal chemistry approaches for Scorpion programs by staying abreast of advances in the field
  • Maintain excellent communication across internal and external team members
  • Proactively communicate strategy, critical issues and recommendations to enable appropriate resource decisions
  • Serve as a scientific resource to the company who will champion new technologies/ideas to enhance capabilities.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in chemistry, specializing in synthetic organic synthesis or relevant experience
  • 3+ (and preferably 5+) years of experience supporting the synthetic and medicinal chemistry of drug discovery project teams
  • Experience managing and interacting with synthetic chemistry CRO’s
  • A strong record of achievement with a broad understanding of synthetic and medicinal chemistry as evidenced by contributions to drug programs and publications in high-impact journals
  • Understanding of other drug discovery disciplines (e.g., biology, safety, PKDM, etc.)
  • Proficient skills in the use of structure-based or other computer-aided design tools
  • Experience participating on a team that has advanced compounds to clinical development is preferred
  • Commitment to the highest-quality research with outstanding organizational abilities and scientific execution

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. with 6+ years of computational chemistry support in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology environment
  • Demonstrated contributions to drug discovery programs through the application of computational chemistry techniques
